If indeed, the man on your list is a Cool Old Guy, a lifetime membership to CoolOldGuys.org is the absolutely coolest gift you could buy. And it’s only $20 bucks! But, let’s assume you already purchased him a membership. Here are some other very cool things you might want to get the COG on you list. We haven’t tested nor do we recommend these things. We just asked for cool recommendations and are passing along the ones we think COGs would love.
If you have tried or heard about any of these items, tell us what you think in the comment section below. Don’t be shy!

I’m all ears!

There must have been three dozen different earphone products recommended, but these looked and sounded pretty cool and priced right. Audéo PFE (Perfect Fit Earphones) are a set of high-end, sound-isolating earphones from Phonak, leading manufacturer of hearing systems for those living with hearing loss. The Audéo PFE earphones are the first consumer-ready device launched by Phonak and if there is anyone that understands the human ear – it’s them! The Audéo PFE provides:

Exceptional comfort and fit: Different, replaceable ear tips allow you to get just the right fit.

Top-notch sound quality: By isolating sound, the earphones provide excellent sound quality without sacrificing the health of your ears.

Great design and versatility: The earphones are available in black and white and with/without a microphone (compatible with mobile devices).

Pop these on and enjoy the music for around $139 and they are sold exclusively through the Audeo web site, http://www.audeoworld.com.

Can you hear me know?

Here is a old “Hi-Tech” device that has come along way since the early days of walkie talkies.  The latest Motorola Talkabout MJ270 two-way radios are a must-have communication device for active lifestyles and give kids and grand-kids the independence they need and best of all there are no roaming charges.   With a range of 27 miles, NOAA weather alerts, hands-free operation, an Emergency alert button and even flexible charging from the car, PC, desktop and even in remote areas, these are a perfect and practical communication device for kids, families and outdoor enthusiasts. They are especially useful as we get into the holiday cruising season, family camping and winter ski vacations as they operate in areas not covered by cell phones. These are a perfect communication device for Cool Old Guys that go skiing, camping, hiking, or to take to the park, vacation, and even a staple for emergency preparedness kits.  These babies can be had for about $70 and can be purchased at Radio Shack, Best Buy, Home Depot, to name a few and online.

I Can’t See It!

Unfortunately, along with growing older, most of us Cool Old Guys will eventually suffer some vision loss. Well now, thanks to this little gem of a tool, we can still enjoy our hobbies that involve small parts and pieces. It’s called the “Optelec Compact Mini Video Magnifier. Unlike many traditional magnifiers, this thing is simple to use and very effective. All this coolness is only $395 from Magnifiers and More. If you would like more information, email them at cbetter@magnifiersandmore.net .

What Time is it?

Just ask Buzz Lightyear. Check out the Casio Waveceptor and tell me this isn’t cool. Not only is it stylish, but it’s got some really cool features. This watch has “Atomic Timekeeping” (whatever that is) that offers pinpoint accuracy by allowing the watch to automatically receive time calibration updates on a daily basis from local transmitters.  Solar Power technology features a unique power saving function and allows Waveceptor timepieces to energize themselves through even the lowest level of illumination including natural, solar or artificial light.  Available at www.my.casio.com for $99, the Waveceptor is stylish, technology-packed, and affordable.

Where Do I Live?

For the Cool Old Guy that occasionally can’t find the old homestead, check out Guiding Light for your Mailbox. This is a cool product which uses state-of-the-art LCD panels and solar powered technology to illuminate street numbers so people (Well maybe not the Older COGs) can spot homes from half a football field away! Emergency vehicles, package delivery, and out-of-town friends and family can all locate your home fast, especially when seconds count.
The mailbox saddle is made from durable plastic, tested to withstand harsh weather and has a lifetime guarantee.  Each mailbox covering has a solar panel that illuminates house numbers and requires only four hours of charging to last for three days in darkness!  Guiding Light for your Mailbox, available for $79.95 including shipping and handling at www.guidingmailbox.com , is the leader in home identification.

Listen to this

Check out these cool wireless speakers. Whether it’s listening to music, watching a video or conducting a conference call, the Livespeakr™ is the most portable speaker system iPhone/iPod products have ever hooked up to, boasting a distinctive “super cradle” that locks in and protects a variety of devices, including the iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPod Touch, iPod Touch 2G and iPod Classic.  Then the cradle rotates to work in both portrait and landscape modes and comes with a carrying pouch to store for safe travel. They say they are committed to the environment and user convenience, thus the rechargeable Lithium battery for up to 16 hours of non-stop listening. Pretty cool guys! This is available at http://Amazon.com for about $79.

Sleep Well!

I can’t wait to try this one out. The Neckii Pod is a pillow and iPod speaker system. It is said to be the most comfortable pillow for travel and leisure. Watch this 15 second video to see the product and the half-naked Neckii Pod user. Even if you have no need or desire for a pillow like this…you will want to watch the demo here…  Neckii Pod Rocks

No Double Dipping Please.

I know, who would have thought there would be a “bowl” on a list of gifts for Cool Old Guys? When I reached out to other COGs and the internet, I never thought I would get so many unique ideas and suggestions. This is just in time for all of the holiday “bowl” games too. If you want the coolest bowl at the party, check out these babies with their “no-spill lip” that will keep all your salsa on the chips and not the table. This award winning bowl is microwave safe and BPA free. The only place to scoop the CaliBowl is on their website at http://calibowl.com and there are several different packages to consider.

**Notice to all COGs and COG Gift buyers***

We received literally hundreds of suggestions for our cool gift list and these are but a few. In no way do we endorse or for that matter even recommend these items. But they sure look cool to me and I think most Cool Old Guys will like them too. If you have any experience with any of these products, good or bad, please make a comment if you are a “Certified” COG.

Next to a Lifetime Membership to CoolOldGuys.org, some of the coolest things for the Cool Old Guy (COG) on your list are listed herein. Please keep in mind, we only think they are cool. In no way are we recommending this stuff, because we just asked readers and the Internet to tell us what is cool. Now I’m just reporting some of the things that kinda sound cool to me. If you have any of these items or think they sound cool…make a comment to help other COGs.

So, as they says on Dancing With the Stars, “In no particular order”…

Too Cool Boom Box

i930 Ghetto BlasterHere’s a high performance, throw-back music system. The i931 iPod “Ghetto Blaster” has an AM/FM tuner and check this out. It has a 3.5 mm stereo auxiliary input, USB input and SD card reader for direct playback of your MP3’s.
I’m not saying this is a must have gift, but it’s pretty cool and under $150 when you buy it on Amazon.com by clicking here  Lasonic i931 Ghetto Blaster with iPod Dock

So HOT its Cool

Taking a slightly hotter tone to the coolest gift is this offer from GhostPepper.com. Said to be the world’s hottest hot pepper sauce, this baby is made with the Bhut Jolokia pepper which is claimed to be 200 times hotter than a Jalapeno. This stuff is likely to work that Cool Old Guy on your list into a sweat for a cool $10.95.

Cool Finger Tips

These gloves are just the right thing for the Cool Old Guy who wants to keep his hands warm and dry while using mobile phones, portable games systems, music players and other electronic devices. Their missing thumb and index fingertips allow you to touch, tap, stroke, slide and pinch these devices’ displays in any way you desire – a facet of their design that is particularly important when interacting with touch-screen devices like the iPhone and iPod Touch, since their capacitive touch-screen technology means that they only respond to your bare naked fingertips. Check out the Etre Touchy gloves, they look cool enough to be warm on a cold day.

The Cat’s will Love this mouse

MotormouseWhat COG wouldn’t love a motormouse? What is a motormouse? Probably the coolest mouse you’ll ever see and it won the “Top Gear Award”…whatever that means. Check it out at Motormouse.us.com it’s very cool and it’s only $46.95.

Get out the old 33 1/3’s

How many boxes of vinyl records does your Cool Old Guy have stashed away in the basement or attic? Well, check out this cool turntable that will allow him to transfer his cassettes and records to a digital format. This newly released CR2413A Memory Master ll turntable is very cool and sleek. It is only available at Crosley’s and seems reasonably priced at $399.95. Just think, if you are snowbound this winter, you can dig up the old LP’s and rip some CD’s.

This Sucks

Even COGs need to clean up sometimes. So why shouldn’t he look cool while he’s doing itvacuum. Check out this laser gun looking DC31 from Dyson. Stop giving him gifts that…well suck. Give him this gift that REALLY sucks and, according to Dyson, doesn’t lose suction. He will feel like he cleaned up on this little gem that is available from Dyson for $219.99.

“Micro Biography”

For the Cool Old Guy that Twitters, he needs to follow us @IMACOG and check this out. Ken Hudak, the proprietor of 140bio.com tells me he offers what he calls a “microbiography” service that allows Twitter users to have their Twitter stream published as a publisher-grade paperback book. The paperbacks consist of the user’s most recent 3200 tweets. Although I don’t have 3200 Tweets, and most of them aren’t worth re-printing, I can see where this could be a very cool idea. These microbiographies only cost $18.99 and can be ordered directly from 140bio.com.

Toothbrush Sanitizer

toothbrushFinally, COGs that travel, or may be a bit anal, here is a cool toothbrush sanitizer. From the folks at Violight comes the VIO200 which uses a unique germ-eliminating UV technology in a sleek, go-anywhere package. This is perfect for the Cool Old Guy for the office, gym, and hotel or even at home. You can order this cool idea for the same price as a membership to CoolOldGuys.org…$29.99 or maybe even less from Amazon.com as easy as clicking here  Violight VIO200 Travel Toothbrush Sanitizer

Again, we’ve been told these things are all that they say they are. Like all of the articles here on CoolOldGuys.org this is meant to have fun and not endorsed or even recommended for that matter. They just seem cool to me and I’ll bet they will be cool for the COG on your list!
